An alcohol-free evening starts before the evening.
Make a small plan for the moment you usually reach for a drink.

Find the actual moment
“I’ll drink less tonight” is an intention. “When I close my laptop, I’ll make tea and sit outside” is something you can do. Think about the transition that usually leads to a drink: finishing work, cooking dinner or finally having the house to yourself.
Keep the good part of the ritual
Perhaps what you want is a pause, a change of scene or a conversation. Build your evening around that need. Put a drink you enjoy within reach, choose something simple for dinner and decide what you’ll do in the first half-hour. Your alternative does not need to be productive.
Leave a note for tomorrow
Afterwards, write one sentence about what felt easy and what was awkward. Use it to adjust the next evening. You are gathering useful information, not trying to prove anything. In ClearDays, a check-in and a short journal note give that observation a place to live.
