“Not tonight, thanks.” And other perfectly good answers.
A few words and a little preparation can make a social evening feel simpler.

Pick a sentence that sounds like you
You do not owe a roomful of people your personal history. Try “I’m having something alcohol-free tonight” or “I’m good with this, thanks.” Say it once out loud beforehand. A sentence that feels natural is more useful than a clever comeback.
Decide what you do want
Look at the menu before you arrive, or bring a drink you like if that fits the occasion. You can still want the dinner, the conversation and the company. Tell one trusted person your plan if you would welcome their support.
Give yourself an exit
If someone keeps asking, repeat your answer and change the subject. You can also take a break or leave earlier than planned. Afterwards, notice who made the evening easier and which situations took more effort. That is useful context for your next invitation.
